Megatron is one of the all time most recognizable transformers ever, I have already wrote about his history so now I will get into showing the toys but he has had so many different styles of toys, cars, planes and tanks but the gun is what Megatron was made for so this is what I will write about this time.
- 1983 – Takara – Unknown class – MC-12 Gun Robo Walther P-38: There are two versions one in Grey with black handle grips and one in Black with Brown handle grips. Both had Blue inner arms and legs. Came with a sword, gun, plastic pellets and no other parts.
- 1983 – Takara – Unknown class – MC-13 Gun Robo Walther P-38 U.N.C.L.E.: Same as the above but in Silver Chrome with Black handle grips and Red inner robot parts, the same accessories but with a silencer, stock, telescopic sight to immulate a unique, pistol seen in the popular TV show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. from the 1960s.
- 1984 – Hasbro – Unknown class – Megatron: This is the same as the Takara U.N.C.L.E. version with the exception of a Decepticon logo on his chest. But no Sword or plastic pellets and the spring loaded device was removed for child safety.
- 1985 – Takara – Unknown class – Convoy VS Megatron: The Grey version of the Takara release with the extensions but with Decepticon logs on him and came boxed with Convoy (Japanese version of Optimus Prime.)
- 1986 – Takara – Unknown class – Goodbye Megatron: This time he was released with Starscream and came with a scope but with no other extensions. He also came with gun and sword. What makes this release more interesting is that he is the unchromed Grey version but has Red robot parts making him unique as releases go.
- 2000 – Takara – Unknown class – Reissue Megatron: This version is chromed Silver with Red Robot parts and all of the accessories of past releases: Scope, Silencer, Stock, Gun, Sword, 20 bullets and the firing mechanism is functional.
- 2000 – Takara – Unknown class – Megatron Black version: This was an exclusive for e-Hobby and Botcon Japan 2000 and was also released for e-Hobby again in 2009 but in new packaging. He is meant to be a homage to the Black version of the Microchange MC-12 Gun Robo Walther P-38. He comes in dark gunmetal Chrome with Brown gun handle grips, hands and inner helmet. His inner robot parts are Red and he comes with Scope, Silencer, Stock, Gun, Sword, 20 bullets and the firing mechanism is functional. He was limited to 1000 pieces.
- 2001 – Takara – Unknown class – Choro-Q Megatron TV version: This version is a smaller cute deformed gun with no accessories for the first time but had wheels on his base and barrel with a pullback motor. His Silver has turned Yellow and brittle over the years.
- 2001 – Takara – Unknown class – Choro-Q Megatron Black version: Same as the TV version but in Black instead Grey and with Brown grips instead of Black.
- 2003 – Takara – Unknown class – Transformers Collection Megatron: This release was identical to the 2000 release in colors and accessories but also came with a new Energon mace in translucent plastics that he can hold to immolate a scene the original The Transformers cartoon episode “More than Meets the Eye, Part 2” Where Megatron fights Optimus Prime. He also came with extra stickers and a mouse pad.
- 2004 – Takara – Unknown class – Smallest Transforming Transformers Megatron: This is one of the smallest line of transformers and although he is identical to his bigger release he is very small and did not come with stock or silencer but those were released as a set a little later on.
- 2004 – Takara – Unknown class – Smallest Transforming Transformers Convoy vs Megatron: Same as the as the above version but with Blue inner parts and removed the swirl pattern from his chest and came with Convoy (Japanese Optimus)
- 2006 – Hasbro – Voyager class – Classics Megatron: The first Gun by Hasbro in over 20 years is more in the Nerf blaster style but does not shoot. He sports neon Green, bright Purple, Orange, Black and Grey.
- 2007 – Takara – Unknown class – Encore Megatron: The Original toy was released again in Takara’s Encore line. In the Hasbro colors and all his accessories.
- 2007 – Takara – Masterpiece class – Masterpiece Megatron MP-5: The largest of the gun Megatrons also is the most detailed and complex to transform, is fragile and is meant more as a display piece then toy. He comes with Fusion cannon, energon mace, energy dagger, laser pistol, and a translucent Yellow Kremzeek figure (Kremzeek is from the cartoon and is an electrical lifeform created by Megatron and Starscream) There was also an upgrade kit that gives you the stock and silencer.
- 2008 – Takara – Voyager class – Henkei! Henkei! Megatron: This version uses the classics mold but in his traditional colors of Silver, Black and Red.
- 2010 – Takara – Voyager class – United Megatron: Another re-use of the Classics mold but with more Silver, less Red.
- 2011 – Hasbro – Legends class – Reveal the Shield Megatron: A small but highly detailed and accurate version of Megatron except his orange tipped gun barrel becomes his fusion cannon in place of the missing scope. He can be held by Masterpiece Seekers but is oversized for them. (all promotional photos do not have an orange barrel)
- 2011 – Takara – Legends class – EZ Collection Megatron: A slight redeco of the Hasbro release but in different shades of the same colors, no Orange tip and came blind packed.
- 2011 – Takara – Unknown class – G1 Megatron & Movie Megatron: An e-HOBBY exclusive reissue of the original toy comes in a two-pack with a redeco of Dark of the Moon Voyager Class Megatron. He also has his scope, sword, gun, bullets and is basically the same colors as Goodbye Megatron.
- 2014 – Takara – Masterpiece class – Masterpiece Megatron Gold version MP-05G: This version is a Gold chrome redeco of the first Masterpiece Version with all the same accessories as well as a new, non-transforming Reflector in camera mode for Megatron to hold to remake the cover of the All Hail Megatron comic (that was a homage to the Batman Killing Joke comic where The Joker is using a camera).
