Hello again and welcome back to our look at Ultra Magnus, often the excuse to repaint another Optimus toy but not always. So by Magnus’s Hammer let us begin!
- 2007 – Hasbro – Voyager class – Classics Ultra Magnus: A White and Blue redeco of Oprimus Prime and released with Skywarp as part of the Target Exclusive “Battle for Autobot City” set and also available in Woolworth stores throughout the UK. Takara released him in 2012 but with very little Blue and some Metallic Silver. This set was harder to find in Canada due to it being an American store release and so it can be expensive even alone out of box.
- 2008 – FansProject – Yoyager class – City Commander armor: This not an actual truck but a trailer that can be pulled by the Classics Ultra Magnus and can disassemble and be added to the robot mode to become armor (I included this just to show people who may not have heard of this) This is toy is a bit fragile and can fall apart easily, it is best to be put in either mode and left there, more of a showcase piece then a toy. I have the Powered Commander trailer for the Classics Optimus Prime so I know what I am talking about. A large section of the trailer forms a large and silly looking gun that is very hard for the figure to hold.
- 2007 – Hasbro – 6-inch Cybertron Heroes – Titanium Series Ultra Magnus: An all new toy made mostly of die cast metal and his cab and trailer are one piece and allows for transforming without taking anything a part although the cab can detach with it being held in by a small peg.
- 2007 – Hasbro – 6-inch Cybertron Heroes – War Within Ultra Magnus: A repaint of War Within Optimus Prime, this version depicts a Cybertronian form for UM (The original Prime was designed by comic artist and now Hasbro employee Don Figueroa)
- 2008 – Hasbro – Leader class – Animated Ultra Magnus: Another new mold that transforms into an 8-wheeled Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck.
This toy has several gimmicks built in, including
- 2008 – Hasbro – Leader class – Animated Roadbuster Ultra Magnus: A redeco of the above animated Ultra Magnus but his color scheme is based on G1 Roadbuster.
- 2010 – Takara – Alternator Ultra Magnus: An exclusive to Takara’s e-HOBBY is a redeco of Convoy (Optimus Prime), Ultra Magnus transforms into a Brilliant White Pearl 1:32 scale fully licensed Nissan GT-R, featuring die-cast metal parts, an opening hood, trunk, doors and interior.
- 2012 – Hasbro – Commander class – Cyberverse Ultra Magnus: A very small new mold version of a one-piece flat-bed truck, and he features a translucent chest and front windshield that when plugged into Cyberverse playsets can light up. He also has a translucent Blue hammer.
- 2012 – Hasbro – Voyager class – Prime Ultra Magnus: A much larger scale toy similar to the Cyberverse version in some ways comes with a cannon that converts to a light up Hammer using LEDs
- 2012 – Takara – Voyager class – Arms Micron Ultra Magnus: A similar release to the Hasbro version but with Brighter lighter plastics. Instead of his hammer he comes with an Arms Micron partner that turns into a hammer
- 2012 – Hasbro – Deluxe class – Fall of Cybertron Ultra Magnus: A retool/redeco of Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime with a new head and sword.
- 2012 – Takara – Deluxe class – United Fall of Cybertron Ultra Magnus: A straight repaint of the Hasbro version but in lighter colors with some Metallic paint used.
- 2013 – Hasbro – Weaponizer class – Platinum Edition Thrilling 30 Ultra Magnus: A retool/redeco of the R.i.D. Weaponizer Class Optimus Prime toy with a big hammer. His main gimmick is the two large, Blue and White mini guns hidden in his back (or hood), which can deploy (or weaponize) in either mode. In Robot mode when deployed, the mini-guns swing out from his back over his shoulders and spin. He came in a pretty red box and was number 03 of 30 in the thrilling 30 line.
- 2013 – Hasbro – Ultra class – Timelines Ultra Mammoth: A light Blue and White redeco of Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy. This represents the new body Ultra Magnus used in Beast Wars Shattered Glass this was exclusive to Transformers Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service in 2013.
- 2013 – Hasbro – Voyager class – Beasthunters Ultra Magnus: A retool/redeco of the R.i.D. Voyager Class Optimus Prime toy.
- 2014 – Hasbro – Commander class – Cyberverse Ultra Magnus: A retool/redeco of Series 2 Cyberverse Commander Class Optimus Prime with the addition of a hammer.
- 2014 – KFC – Masterpiece class – Citizen Stack: A Third Party worth a mention, He is a Masterpiece class toy that measures up to Masterpiece Otimus Prime and can carry masterpiece cars in his carrier, the cab does not open into a robot but forms his back. He even has a flip chest well for a Matrix of Leadership. He was recolored/remolded into Shining Yellow Commander Stack, D.A.I. Commander Stack and Nemesis Stack. (The KFC stands for Keith’s Fantasy Club and not the chicken franchise)
- 2015 – Hasbro – Legion Class – Ultra Magnus: A redeco of Transformers (2010) Reveal the Shield Legends Class Optimus Prime.
- 2015 – Hasbro – Leader Class – Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus: Another brand new sculpt and by the pictures of it will be on many fans to buy list, He is White, Red and Blue and he is big. He comes with a small transformer partner Minimus Ambus that can be stored in his chest while in robot mode (almost making him some kind of chest master… lol)
- 2015 – Takara – Leader Class – Legends Ultra Magnus: A slight repaint bringing the Hasbro figure closer to the original toy with Red hips and more Blue in the trailer and his wheels have Silver hubs. His mini partner has been repainted to be Alpha Trion
- 2015 – Takara – Voyager – Adventure Ultra Magnus: Another retool/redeco of R.i.D. Voyager Class Optimus Prime toy. He comes with a gold top Hammer that is from his Beasthunters toy.
well we have come to the end of this one, thank you again for reading, it was a real learning experience in just how many toys UM has had an how many are repaint/redecos of Optimus Prime or his Takara counterpart Convoy. So see you next time.
